Pakistan cricket team suffered an embarrassing 7-wicket loss against England in the fourth and final T20I of the four-match series being played at the Kennington Oval in London, on May 30 (Thursday). Captain Babar Azam has been on the receiving end of a lot of questions regarding the selection of Azam Khan following a streak of underperformance both as a batter and wicket-keeper.

Babar Azam on Azam Khan's selection

Babar Azam backed Azam Khan's selection and said that it is the media only that questions them when they don't select a player and later they only question their selection. He demanded them to support their players who have been selected for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in the United States and West Indies.

“When we don't select a player, you ask us why did we not select him. And then when we select him, you ask us why was he selected. We need to back the players who have been selected,” said Babar Azam in the post-match presentation.

Azam Khan had a really disappointing outing in the final T20I against England. First, he got out on a five-ball duck and then dropped two crucial catches while wicket-keeping. He would be eying to make a comeback in the upcoming marquee event.

Pakistan leave for United States

Pakistan team left for the United States from London. They will now be focusing on the T20 World Cup 2024. They did not play any warm-up games for the T20 World Cup 2024 due to the series against England but two of the four matches got washed out without a single ball being bowled. Pakistan has been placed in the same group as India, Ireland, Canada, and USA. They are one of the two favorites to get to the next round from this stage but their performance in recent times must be bothering them.
