Nicholas Pooran joins Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in elite list with quick-fire fifty in CPL 2025

Former West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran played a highly-important knock of 50 runs for the Trinbago Knight Riders against St. Lucia Kings in the qualifier of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025.  His side posted a formidable total of 194/4 in 20 overs and they eventually restricted the opposition to 138/8 to win the match and qualify for the final. 

Pooran is currently the second-highest run-getter of the ongoing CPL campaign. The left-hand batter has so far scored 425 runs in the tournament in 12 matches. He has recorded four 50+ scores so far and has the highest individual score of 90*. He has also maintained a brilliant strike-rate of 136.65.

Pooran hit four sixes in his knock of 50 against the St. Lucia Kings and this saw him join Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the list of players to score the most sixes in a single country in T20 cricket.

Pooran will be looking to maintian his stellar form when the Trinbago Knight Riders facew the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final of CPL 2025. The left-hand batter is notably the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of the tournament with 2872 runs in 126 matches so far.

Meanwhile, Pooran shocked the cricketing world earlier this year by announcing his retirement from international cricket. He was quite an important figure in the West Indies' white-ball set-up. The 29-year-old has now entirely shifted his focus to franchise cricket and features in various different T20 leagues around the world.
