Trinbago Knight Riders captain Nicholas Pooran scripted history during Caribbean Premier League 2025 match against Barbados Royals

West Indies' explosive batter Nicholas Pooran scripted history as he became the first player in the world to hit over 500 sixes in T20s in this decade

The 29-year-old reached this milestone while captaining the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League 2025

During a match against the Barbados Royals, Pooran's powerful innings of 65 included six towering sixes, which pushed him past the 500-six mark.

Pooran's ascent as a prolific six-hitter has been remarkable, with a consistent increase in his annual tally since 2020. He hit 48 sixes in 2020, followed by 66 in 2021, 58 in 2022, and 77 in 2023. His most explosive year came in 2024, when he smashed 170 sixes. His impressive form has continued into the current CPL season, where he has already hit 85 sixes in just 42 innings, solidifying his career record.

This incredible feat places Pooran third on the all-time list of most T20 sixes, trailing only fellow West Indian legends Chris Gayle (920) and Kieron Pollard (614). He has already surpassed notable hitters like Brendon McCullum (408) and Andre Russell (403).

Kieron Pollard – 614 (427 innings)
Nicholas Pooran – 504* (278 innings)
Brendon McCullum – 408 (297 innings)
