Quetta Gladiators captain Saud Shakeel scored just 33 runs from 40 balls amidst batting collapse in the run chase against David Warner's Karachi Kings.
Pakistan batting all-rounder Saud Shakeel has had a season of extremes so far. From getting timed out to remaining unbeaten for 33 off 40 balls in a run chase despite opening the innings.
On April 18 at National Stadium, Karachi, Quetta Gladiators needed 176 to win. The visitors suffered a batting collapse and lost seven wickets for 57 runs. Shakeel held on to one end and scored just 33 runs from 40 balls.
Only three Quetta Gladiators scored in double digits. Kusal Mendis departed for an eight-ball 12 whereas Mohammad Amir contributed with a cameo of 16-ball 30 featuring 3 sixes and 2 fours.
Shakeel hit just 3 fours and had a strike rate of 82.50 as he carried his bat and Quetta Gladiators lost the match by a big margin of 56 runs. This is the fourth-slowest knock in PSL history where a batter has remained unbeaten.
The top spot belongs to Haris Sohail who scored 33 runs from 52 balls for Lahore Qalandars against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2019.
The second spot belongs to Ahmed Shehzad who scored 28 runs from 35 balls for Quetta Gladiators against Multan Sultans in PSL 2019.
For Multan Sultans, captain Mohammad Rizwan remained not out for 28 off 34 balls against Quetta Gladiators in the 2023 edition of PSL.
"The pitch was on the slower side and they used the conditions well to bowl very well. This is a forgettable day for us. If we lose five wickets in the powerplay, it is impossible to comeback from there. Need to improve on our fielding and batting in the powerplay. We need to focus on the games in front of us and be back with better plans," Shakeel said in the post-match presentation.
