Suryakumar Yadav to Prithvi Shaw: 8 big names who will be icon players in this T20 league
The T20 Mumbai League is returning after a long absence of six years. Prithvi Shaw-led North Mumbai Panthers are the defending champions.

The T20 Mumbai League is set to return after a six-year hiatus. The mega auction will take place on May 7. While as many as 240 players will be up for grabs in the auction, each franchise will have a maximum of Rs 1 crore in their purse.

The eight T20 Mumbai league teams are - Sobo Mumbai Falcons, Mumbai South Central, North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.

Reportedly, each icon player will get Rs 15 or Rs 20 lakh. The eight big names are Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Sarfaraz Khan, Tushar Deshpande and Prithvi Shaw.

The two icon players who don't have an IPL contract are Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan. Shaw who played for Delhi Capitals (DC) for seven seasons was ignored despite having a base price of Rs 75 lakh. Sarfaraz was part of DC as well but did not get any takers.

Each team can rope in a maximum of 18 players. The base price for Ranji Trophy players is set at Rs 10 lakh. Other players will have Rs 2 lakh as base price.

In 2019, North Mumbai Panthers led by Prithvi Shaw beat SoBo Supersonics by 12 runs to win the title at the Wankhede Stadium. In the final of the first season, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East beat Shivaji Park Lions by 3 runs.

Meanwhile, former India assistant coach and part of Kolkata Knight Riders coaching staff, Abhishek Nayar has been roped in by new franchise Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals as their mentor. The other new franchise is SoBo Mumbai Falcons.
