A product of Australia’s rigorous domestic cricket, this right handed middle order batsman has carved a niche for himself by excelling in the shortest format of the game and building a reputation of being a Twenty20 specialist. An aggressive batsman with a strong bottom-hand, David Hussey from Victoria has achieved a lot at the first-class level and has shown glimpses of his talent at the international circuit.

David broke into the international scene by featuring in a T20 game against India at Melbourne in 2008.  He played for Kolkata for the first two seasons before moving onto Punjab. However, he did not get a chance to wield the willow. He had to work hard to get his first chance at One Day Internationals and finally got his break against the West Indies in July, during the same year after scoring 1000 runs in the domestic season of 2007-08. Hussey’s first ODI century came against Scotland as he scored 111 runs off 83 balls with a staggering strike rate of 133.73 in a knock that took Australia to a 189-run victory. A prolific scorer on the domestic front, the younger Hussey wants to shed himself of the “T20” tag desperately, but as Cricket Australia looks for younger men in the ODI side, he might just have to be content with that.
