Leg break

A rare phenomenon in English cricket, Scott Borthwick is a legbreak bowler who was a product of the local league system in Durham.

Borthwick made his first-class debut for Durham in 2009 and went on to have a good 2010 season. A fringe member of Durham's First XI, much of his success came in the first-class arena. The following winter, under the tutelage of Shane Warne and Mushtaq Ahmed, he worked hard towards his fitness and developed his bowling skills. The hardwork paid off as his 2011 season started with a four-wicket haul that helped Durham beat Warwickshire by 8 wickets. Subsequently, Borthwick was selected in England's ODI squad for their series against Ireland later that year.
