Vikram Solanki is an English cricketer who was born in Udaipur, India but raised in Wolverhampton, England.

Vikram started his cricketing career at a young age of 16, when he was selected to play for county side Worcestershire. His wristy stroke play and elegant batting caught the eye of the selectors and an England debut was not very far. He was selected to represent England at various levels including the England Lions squad and consistent performances earned him a spot in the England national side for the Three Lions tour of South Africa. Vikram made his ODI debut against South Africa in 2000. He couldn't covert his domestic performance on the international circuit and his sloppy fielding cost him his place in 2003. However he continued to score big on the domestic circuit. In 2003, due to retirement of many senior players he was called back into the national squad and answered his critics with a smashing century against South Africa but unfortunately couldn’t continue with his good touch as he failed miserably in his next few matches and was dropped again.

He was recalled once again for the 2004 Champions Trophy after some good domestic performances. Vikram went on to play over 50 ODIs for England scoring a mere 1097 runs and picked up a solitary wicket of Sanath Jayasuriya in his short career. Solanki was part of England’s World Twenty20 side in 2007 and he also kept wickets due to the absence of regular keeper Matt Prior. Solanki continued to score big for Worcestershire and was appointed captain in 2005 after spending a decade at the County Cricket Club and he resigned at the end of the 2010 season.
