After weeks of speculation, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has finally received his No Objection Certificate from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) after the veteran revealed that he was no longer interested in playing for Bengal. According to the Gujarat Titans (GT) opener, he was allegedly insulted by one of the office-bearers of the CAB.
On Saturday, Wriddhiman had a meeting with CAB president Avishek Dalmiya and Secretary Snehasis Ganguly, after which the star was finally given the NOC.
Wriddhiman got slightly emotional after getting NOC from CAB, given his 15-year-long career with the Bengal cricket team. Speaking to Sports Tak in an exclusive interview after getting his NOC, Wriddhiman was emotional, saying, "It was fixed. I had said earlier that I will come and take NOC when I was free. Now the time has come. I had given certain terms and conditions as well, and although the CAB requested me to play for Bengal, I had made the decision and it was final."
Here are further excerpts from the interview:
Is it an emotional day for you to leave Bengal?
Yes, obviously it's an emotional day for me. Playing for Bengal is always an honour for me. I left a job with the railways to play for Bengal. I only have fond memories of the Bengal team. I always want Bengal to play well at all levels and in all tournaments.
Do you think there is an ego clash between you and the CAB?
No, I didn't show any ego with the CAB. I don't know what was from the CAB part. But It's ok because I finally got my NOC.
Which state are you going to play for now?
See, I only know that I am available for other states. I had a talk with multiple associations, but anything is not fixed till now. I have not decided yet. It will be final in somedays.
