India's Under-19 World Cup 2022-winning captain has had a good debut Ranji Trophy season so far. After twin centuries on Ranji debut against Tamil Nadu, Dhull saved the day for Delhi after Chattisgarh enforced follow-on.
After a 29-run knock in the first innings, Dhull and opener Dhruv Shorey did not let Chattisgarh bowlers get early wickets. Shorey scored his century as well and lost his wicket immediately after reaching the three figures with Sumit Ruikar providing the breakthrough in the 67th over.
Dhull continued to dominate Chattisgarh bowlers at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Krishitiz Sharma got run out after a mix-up but Nitish Rana took the bowlers to the cleaners with his unbeaten 36-ball 57 including three fours and five sixes.
Dhull got to his double ton from 261 deliveries as the match ended in a draw with scoreboard reading 396/2 in the 90th over of Delhi's second innings. The youngster did not hit a six but scored 26 boundaries in his maiden double ton.
Delhi managed to take a 209-run lead in the first innings and did not take the risk of inviting Chattisgarh to chase in the third session of Day 4. With a draw against Chattisgarh, Delhi are officially knocked out of the tournament as they are at the bottom of Elite Group H with no wins to their name.
On the other hand, Chattisgarh are in the second spot after registering their first win of the tournament after playing two draws.
Earlier in the game, Harpreet Singh-led Chattisgarh posted 482/9 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. They were able to post a big total with help of centuries from middle-order batters Amandeep Khare and Shashank Singh.
For Delhi, apart from Vikas Mishra, no other bowler could make an impact. The left-arm spinner Mishra took six wicket sin the first innings.
In reply, Delhi did not have many big scores in their lineup. While top-rder posted ordinary scores, Rana and Lalit Yadav registered scores ogf 71 and 60 respectively. Delhi got all out for 295 and were asked to follow on. For Chattisgarh, Ravi Kiran, Shubham Agarwal and Ruikar picked up three wickets each.
