Domestic stalwart Paras Dogra has stormed into history book as he became only the second player in the 92-year legacy of the Ranji Trophy to complete the 10,000-run milestone. Currently leading Jammu and Kashmir in the 2025-26 season, Dogra reached this historic landmark during a high-stakes semi-final clash against Bengal on February 16 at Kalyani. This achievement places him in an elite bracket alongside the legendary Wasim Jaffer, the only other batter to cross the five-figure mark in the tournament.
Dogra’s milestone came under significant pressure as Jammu and Kashmir struggled early in their first innings. Walking to the crease at number four with the score at a precarious 13/2, the captain faced an immediate rebuilding job. Following the quick departure of Shubham Pundir, Dogra found a reliable partner in Abdul Samad. Together, the duo forged a vital 50-run partnership that steadyed the ship and kept J&K in the hunt against a disciplined Bengal bowling attack.

The historic moment arrived when Dogra tucked away his 11th run of the innings, officially entering the 10,000-run club in his 147th Ranji Trophy appearance. While he still trails Jaffer’s all-time record of 12,038 runs, Dogra’s longevity and consistency across nearly two decades of domestic cricket have cemented his status as a titan of the game. His achievement is a testament to his enduring skill, particularly as he continues to lead from the front in the twilight of his career.
Paras Dogra’s journey in first-class cricket began in 2001 with Himachal Pradesh, where he established himself as a domestic heavyweight over nearly two decades. During his tenure of 95 Ranji Trophy matches for the state, he amassed a staggering 6,418 runs, decorated with 19 centuries and 24 half-centuries. In 2018, he transitioned to Puducherry, making history as the team’s inaugural Ranji Trophy centurion and adding 11 more hundreds to his tally over five seasons. Seeking a new challenge for the 2024-25 season, he shifted to Jammu & Kashmir, where he was immediately entrusted with the captaincy.
One of the most defining characteristics of Dogra’s batting is his remarkable ability to convert starts into monumental scores. He currently holds the record for the joint-highest number of double centuries in Ranji Trophy history, having reached the 200-run mark on nine separate occasions. This feat sees him sharing the top spot with former Indian international Cheteshwar Pujara.
