India Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma who is currently featuring for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy 2024-25 after a decade years failed to perform in the first inning of Round 6 fixture against Jammu & Kashmir at BKC Ground. India's captain was dismissed for just three runs of day 1 of the clash. 

Rohit who came to open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal faced 19 deliveries before departing with his team’s total on 12. It was J&K's Umar Nazir who picked up Rohit's wicket by bowling a length delivery through the on-side, Rohit got a leading edge, which was safely caught by the fielder at short cover.

Apart from Rohit, Jaiswal who was looking promising during his last red-ball outing in Australia also failed to make any impact for Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai as he for dismissed just for five runs. Jaiswal's wicket was the first breakthrough for J&K. It was Auqib Nabi who picked up his wicket.

India captain Rohit is going through a lean patch in red-ball cricket, before featuring for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy match he was in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 where he failed to perform as he scored 31 runs in three Test matches against Pat Cummins-led Australia. Rohit who joined the Indian squad from the second Test match has decided to opt out from the fifth Test match after he failed to make an impact for the team in his three Test outings.
