Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are in red-hot form in the ODIs

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has issued a stern warning to critics of star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, emphasising that no one should mess around with players of their stature. Ravi Shastri asserted that if the duo were to press the correct buttons, those attempting to interfere with them would quickly be marginalised and seen nowhere. This strong statement comes amidst ongoing public debate and speculation regarding the future roles and commitment of both Kohli and Rohit within the Indian national team setup with ODI World Cup 2027 approaching.

Shastri delivered a sharp caution to trouble-makers and certain people engaged in the discourse over the careers and reputations of the two cricketing giants. Having previously shared a close, almost father-son-like bond with Kohli and having worked extensively with Rohit, Shastri's remarks were delivered without reservation, underscoring his belief in the duo's continuing authority and influence.

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are ODI giants. You don’t mess around with players of that stature," Shastri told Prabhat Khabar.

All the ones messing around will disappear if these two switch on properly

Shastri's outspoken remarks arrive amid a fresh wave of analytical scrutiny and discussion concerning the longevity and approach of both Rohit and Kohli. Questions about their careers have intensified following their retirements from the Test and ODI formats, which has led to speculation about their long-term roles in the national team.

Although Ravi Shastri deliberately refrained from naming specific individuals or critics, his strongly worded statement made it unequivocally clear that his warnings were directed at those questioning or attempting to undermine the standing of the two legendary cricketers.

“Some people are doing it. That is all I will say. And if these two switch on properly, hit the right buttons, all the ones messing around will disappear from the scene real quick. Aise players ke saath aap masti mat karo yaar," Shastri added.

“In players ke saath masti kar kaun raha hai?," the host asked.

“Karne waale kar rahe hain. Agar unka dimaag theek ho gaya na aur sahi button daba diya, to sab aaju baaju nikal jayenge," Shastri concluded.
