Indian Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, who was on the recovery from a neck injury, has completed his rehab at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) and has been declared fit to feature in all formats of the game. This means that the superstar batter is all ready to feature in the T20I series against South Africa. SportsTak understands that the BCCI CoE has given Gill's fitness certificate to the BCCI management.
How did Gill get injured?
Gill had hurt his neck while batting in the first innings of the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata, where he retired hurt and played no further part in the match. He missed the second Test too - which India lost to concede the series 2-0 - and the ongoing three-match ODI series against South Africa as well.
When will Shubman Gill make a cricketing comeback?
Gill has been included in India's five-match T20I squad against South Africa, where he was appointed as Suryakumar Yadav's deputy. As the superstar batter gets a fitness certificate to play in all formats, there are high chances that he will be seen in action from the first T20I against South Africa, which will take place on December 9 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Apart from Gill, fast bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya also proved his fitness, featuring for Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and he will also make his international comeback in the same series. His last outing came in the Asia Cup 2025 clash against Sri Lanka.
