Batting great Virat Kohli has faced considerable criticism in recent months, as many questioned his decision to spend time in London with his family while still representing India. Kohli, who already retired from Tests and T20Is, is currently in India for the three-match ODI series against South Africa.

Kohli's indirect dig at critics

Ahead of the three-match ODI series against South Africa, the modern-day great Kohli takes a subtle dig at critics questioning his practice before featuring for India. The 37-year-old reminded everyone of the standards he has always held himself to.

“Look, I've been very sure of the fact that once I make myself available to play, I arrive at my 100 per cent capacity. That's how I've always played my cricket. I've never arrived to a series or a tournament at even 95 per cent,” said Virat Kohli in a video shared by BCCI.

Kohli on consistency and hard work

Kohli, who inspired the fitness culture in India's dressing room when he used to lead the side, believes that being in a balanced place is something that helps you to keep your hard work consistent.

"I think being in a balanced place is something that helps you to to keep your hard work consistent, and I think that's the key to playing for a long period of time. Regardless of the results, your work, your effort, your commitment does not change, and I think that's why you would say after playing for 10-15 years that you become wiser. You understand, my routines cannot depend on results. The results are a byproduct of the hard work and not the other way around," said Kohli.

Kohli's last international outing came in the three-match ODI series against Australia, where he got out on ducks in the first two clashes. The legendary batter made his comeback in the third clash, smashing 56 off 61 alongside Rohit Sharma to guide India to a 66-run win.
