Beyond the century, Rohit and Virat made history when India's playing XI was announced, as the match marked the 392nd time they had played together for India. This feat made them the Indian pair with the most joint appearances, breaking the long-standing record of 391 matches held by Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Their partnership dates back over 17 years, with their first outing together for the Men in Blue occurring in August 2008. Furthermore, this was the second consecutive match where Kohli and Rohit shared a 100-run stand, following their unbeaten 168-run partnership in Sydney last month, ending a long drought of century partnerships that stretched back to January 2020.
