The Indian team suffered a huge blow after middle order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Deepak Chahar were ruled out from the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. While talking about the injury issues, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma called it as “a big setback.
"A big setback. He was in great form but there are so many guys waiting for an opportunity. At the same time, I am sad for Surya. A freak injury. You can't control these things," Rohit Sharma told reporters in a virtual press conference ahead of the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
A big boost
But amidst all the injury updates there surely is one good news for Indian team and followers of Indian cricket and it is the return of prolific all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
The southpaw was last seen in action during the Kanpur Test against New Zealand, back in November 2021.
While talking about his return, the 33-year-old all-rounder said that “it feels good” to take part in his first practice session.
“Good feeling to be back in the Indian team. I’m really looking forward to playing the T20 series and the Test series. I am feeling so good that finally, after two months, I will be playing for India,” Jadeja said in a video posted on BCCI TV.
“I was keen to do my rehab properly and was working hard on my fitness at NCA. Today, I came here for my first practice session, it feels good,” the Gujarat-born all-rounder further added.
