Rohit Sharma needs one more win to script a spectacular T20I world record

In the second T20I match against Sri Lanka, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will get a chance to script some memorable records in T20I cricket. 

 

In the shortest format of the game, Rohit has till now led Indian team in 16 matches at home and out of the 16 matches he has won 15 matches for Indian team. And now, a win in the second T20I will help him in overtaking England skipper Eoin Morgan and New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and becoming the T20I captain with most ever wins at home.

 

It is important to mention that both Williamson and Morgan currently have 15 wins at home in the shortest format of the game. 

 

Overall, skipper Rohit Sharma has till now secured 22 wins in 24 matches in his T20I career as the skipper. A victory in the second T20I against Sri Lanka will help him in securing 11th successive win for team India under his leadership and more importantly s series win against Sri Lanka will help him in earning a third consecutive series victory since becoming a full-time captain of the T20 team back in November, 2021.

 

Batting records

Apart from the leadership records, Rohit Sharma has some other records to achieve as a batsman also. He is currently just 19 runs short of bagging 1000 runs as T20I skipper. And he also has a chance of becoming the fastest Indian captain to reach the milestone.

 

After whitewashing West Indies in the ODI and T20I series, team India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma started the three-match T20I series on a positive note as the hosts had secured a 62-run victory in the first match, played in Lucknow.

 

After winning the first T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka by 62 runs, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will play the second T20I on February 26 (Saturday), in Dharamsala.  

 

The final match of the T20I series will be played on February 27 (Sunday).

 

After the completion of the T20I series, India and Sri Lanka will face each other in a two-match Test series.
