A more-than-nasty collision took place between the Sri Lankan players during the third ODI against India on Sunday (January 15) which halted the match at the Greenfield International Stadium in Trivandrum. Fielding at deep-square leg and deep midwicket, Sri Lanka's Jeffrey Vandersay and Ashen Bandara collided with each other on the boundary line in an attempt to save Virat Kohli's four which didn't go down well with the fielders.
The incident took place on fifth ball of the 43rd over of the Indian innings. When Kohli was batting on 95, he pulled the ball between Vandersay and Bandara. Despite both the players tried their best to stop the boundary in a futile attempt, the ball touched the boundary rope. Soon after the collision, the Sri Lankan physiotherapist ran into the field to take stock of the situation.
After a while, the Indian medical staff also came out. The audience present at the venue also had a concerned look on their faces. Soon after, stretchers came out and Bandara had to be carried off as he was seen moaning in agony.
