The second Test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka kicked off on March 16 (IST), with the Kiwis sent in to bat first on Day 1 in Wellington on Thursday. During the match on what turned out to be a windy day, there was a funny moment that saw former Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson stop the play for a few minutes.

Winds blew in force as the batter found it hard to find his feet. The bails of the wicket flew off Williamson rose his hands and the bat to indicate he did not touch the wicket at all. In a different shot, one can see how windy the conditions were as the umpire's cap and sunglasses flew off his head in what turned out to be a hilarious moment.

In the video, we can also see a Sri Lankan player running behind the cap and helping the umpire out in what was a light-hearted moment on Day 1.

Day 1 had to be cut short after light issues affected the play with the Kiwis on 155 for 2 in 48 overs. Tom Latham (21) went cheaply but Devon Conway stabilised the innings with his 78 runs off 108 balls after he was caught and bowled by Dhananjaya de Silva. Kane Williamson (26*) and Henry Nicholls (18*) are currently going strong as the hosts hope to complete a 2-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka.

In the first match, New Zealand edged past their opponents to hand India a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 final. Defending champions New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in a Test that went down to the last ball at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Kane Williamson’s century and Daryl Mitchell’s gutsy 81-run knock helped the hosts chase down the 285-run target in a game that went down to the wire and take a lead in the first of two-Test series.
