Shane Watson scored his 3rd century in 4 matches.

Australia Masters beat South Africa Masters by 137 runs.

While New Zealand's Glenn Phillips' has been impressing everyone by taking flying catches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, a 55-year-old Jonty Rhodes is setting standards in the field for young generation in the International Masters League (IML) T20 2025. In the clash against Australia Masters, the South African put in a dive and saved a boundary at long-on to deny skipper Shane Watson a boundary.ย

It took place on the third ball of the penultimate over. Watson hit Thandi Tshabalala straight down the ground. It looked a certain boundary before Rhodes came in running and put in a dive to stop the ball with his right hand. In the video, Rhodes can be seen bleeding from his elbow as well.

Watson was stunned to see Rhodes' effort as he settled for a single. Rhodes is currently the fielding coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The LSG side has a few acrobatic fielders in Nicholas Pooran, David Miller, Aiden Markram and others.

Another century for Watson

Meanwhile, Watson scored his third century from four games. He remained unbeaten for 122 off 61 balls. His knock was laced with nine sixes and as many fours. He shared an 186-run opening partnership with Callum Ferguson. The partnership was broken in the 15th over by Alviro Petersen. Ferguson hit 11 fours and four sixes in his 43-ball 85. In the slog overs, wicketkeeper-batter Ben Dunk contributed with a 16-ball 34 cameo laced with two fours and three sixes. Watson's unbeaten ton led Australia Masters to a mammoth total of 260/1.

Big loss for South Africa

In the run chase, South Africa Masters' batters could not put up a fight. After Hashim Amla (19-ball 30) and Richard Levi (13-ball 22) departed, The Proteas batters failed to keep up with the required run rate. Rhodes was not explosive with the bat and managed to score just 16 runs from 18 balls. Ben Laughlin claimed three wickets whereas spinners Xavier Doherty and Bryce McGain picked up two wickets each. South Africa were bowled out for 123 in 17 overs and lost the match by 137 runs.

South Africa Masters are fifth on the points table with three losses from four games. Their net run rate (NRR) of -3.085 is worst in the season. Rhodes will be in action against Brian Lara-led West Indies Masters on March 11.
