In a series of blockbuster events, former West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell etched his name in the history books while representing Jamaica Kingsmen in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) game against Barbados Tridents on Wednesday, August 12 at the Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. The star all-rounder managed to amass 68 runs off just 38 balls while chasing 207 in the second innings.

Despite his side enduring a narrow loss by a margin of five runs, Russell recorded a sensational knock, hitting nine sixes during his time in the middle. The hard-hitting batter also played a big role in two partnerships worth more than 50 runs for Rovman Powell's side.

The result may not have gone in Russell's favour but his power-hitting show saw him add another big achievement to his great T20 career. By smashing nene sixes during the game, the West Indies star moved past the landmark of 800 sixes in the shortest format.

Now, Russell has 801 sixes from 603 outings in the T20 format. Only Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard had previously managed to breach the 800-six mark in T20 cricket, making Russell just the third player to accomplish the feat.

Gayle managed to hit a total of 1,056 sixes in just 463 games, meanwhile Pollard managed to smash 1,001 sixes after playing 746 T20 games. With his knock of 68, Russell also reached the 2,000 run mark in CPL. Now, he is the only player in the world to score 2,000 runs and take 100 wickets in the CPL.
