Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is headed to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after facing the snub from selectors for the Asian Games 2026. Miraz is set to make his CPL debut for Guyana Amazon Warriors as replacement of veteran Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.
Nabi has been released by Guyana Amazon Warriors for Afghanistan's three-T20I series against India starting on September 13. Nabi did not feature in Afghanistan's ODI series against Ireland but was available for selection for India series.

When will Mehidy make his CPL debut?
Guyana Amazon Warriors' next match is on September 8 against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. It is yet to be seen if Miraz makes his CPL debut for Falcons or against Saint Lucia Kings on September 9.
Nabi’s absence a big concern for Warriors
Mehidy will have big shoes to fill as Nabi is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament among spinners, tied with Roston Chase and ahead of Sunil Narine, Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Nabi has 12 wickets from six games at an average of 10.17, including two four-wicket hauls.
Miraz’s T20 numbers
28-year-old Miraz's previous T20 appearance was in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026. This will be his first T20 franchise tournament appearance outside subcontinent. From 176 T20s, he has 2,320 runs at an average of 17.57, including seven fifties. He has 118 wickets averaging nearly 31, including two four-fers.
Another Afghanistan player leaves Warriors
Afghanistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz will leave for the T20I series against India as well. Gurbaz has played just two games and scored 93 runs so far last week. He has been replaced by Pakistan’s out-of-favour wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris. Pakistan’s 25-year-old will make his CPL debut as well. Like Miraz, it will be Haris’ first appearance in T20 franchise cricket outside subcontinent.
Warriors still unbeaten
Imran Tahir-led Guyana Amazon Warriors have already qualified for the playoffs. They are placed at the top of the points table with six wins from as many games. In their previous game, Warriors beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by seven wickets. Nabi starred with four wickets for 17 runs and an unbeaten 21-ball 25 in the run chase.
