BCCI to review support staff after Sri Lanka Test series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is set to take serious measures on Team India's injury concerns. It has been reported that the board will look for feedback from the team on physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain who has been working for the side since 2022.

Team India's growing injury concerns

Everyone knows that the Men in Blue is suffering with frequent injury breakdowns in recent times, the latest edition is Jasprit Bumrah, who will miss the upcoming Sri Lanka tour due to his knee issue. Earlier, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy were ruled out from the two-match Test series because of their respective injuries. Star all-rounder Washington Sundar is out of the first Test and remains doubtful for the second as well.

As per a latest report by The Times of India, skipper Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir are not pleased with the recent injuries within the squad. The report revealed that the role of Kamlesh Jain is under the scanner, as the injury concerns are not ideal for the team especially when the side is preparing for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2027.

"The role of head physio Kamlesh Jain is under the scanner, as is that of the experts at the CoE. These injury concerns aren't ideal because both the captain and coach have regularly struggled to field a full-strength Playing XI," a source said to The Times of India.

The source further added that there is a lot of competition going for just a single spot, so a player pushing his body is natural to keep his place safe. The BCCI's CoE have to intervene to keep checks and ask for accountability from the people who are responsible to keep players fit.

"There is so much competition for each spot that a player is expected to push his body. This is where the support staff and the CoE need to step in. They need to raise the red flags and not rush players back into action. The situation is now becoming a bit embarrassing, and every concerned person needs to be held accountable," the source added.

Big challenge for Team India

India are set to begin a demanding international season, starting with the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Once that series comes to an end, the BCCI is set to review its support staff, with the roles of physiotherapist and team doctor likely to come under the check. Currently, Kamlesh Jain serves as the team's head physiotherapist, while Dr. Rizwan Khan is the team doctor.
