Though much of the focus is currently on BCCI's announcement for India man's squad for Asia Cup 2025, the board may end up naming the women's squad for ODI World Cup 2025 on the same day itself. The debate around the Men in Blue's Asia Cup squad has intensified in the past few days with speculations being made regarding the players who will or will not make it to the contingent.
However, according to a report by The Times of India, the BCCI will announce India Women's squad for the ODI World Cup 2025 with a press-conference, but they won't do the same for the Asia Cup squad. The report further stated that the board will invite the press to their headquarters in Mumbai and will release the India women's squad for the World Cup which is set to begin from September 30.
The grim weather in Mumbai may ruin BCCI's plans
Though there is an expectation of a conference to take place, the weather in Mumbai may end up having a say on the matter. The city had witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday, August 18 and it is expected that the gloomy weather will continue on August 19 as well. This can end up ruining the BCCI's plans of holding a conference as press may not be able to reach the venue due to the incessant rainfall.
Meanwhile, the India women's cricket team recently concluded a 10-day training camp at BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. This session was much-needed for the Women in Blue, who will be facing-off against Australia in a three-match ODI series which will commence from September 14. This series will be their final major assignment before the World Cup where they will be involved in the opening clash of the tournament against Sri Lanka.
Notably, the Indian team will also be playing two warm-up matches before the commencement of the World Cup. They will be facing England and New Zealand on September 25 and 27 respectively. While the first match will take place at the CoE, the second will be held at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium..
