Ruturaj Gaikwad has showcased his versatility for India by delivering with the bat at the top of the order in the middle. Because of those solid performances he has stayed in the contention for the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, one of the remarkable List A records previously held by the Indian batter has now changed hands.
In a series of interesting events, England's Jack Libby has moved past Gaikwad to break the record for the highest batting average in List A cricket, achieving the feat after an amazing run of three back-to-back centuries.
Three consecutive centuries by Jack Libby
For a very long time, Gaikwad managed to hold the record of having the best batting average in List A cricket (58.61). However, Jack Libby has now moved ahead of the star Indian batter after a remarkable run in England's ongoing One-Day Cup. Leading Worcestershire, Libby dropped an amazing series of performances, scoring centuries against Sussex, Essex and Middlesex. The incredible streak significantly boosted his career numbers and helped him surpass Gaikwad to claim the world record for the highest batting average in List A cricket.

Despite being 33, Libby has not made his international debut for England, but his numbers in List A cricket have now put him at the top of an impressive chart. Across 56 games, the Worcestershire batter has gathered a total of 2,456 runs from 53 innings, staying unbeaten on 13 occasions. His record also includes six hundreds, with 126 being his best score.
Libby's batting average has reached 61.40, cruising past Gaikwad as the batter with the highest average in List A cricket. The Indian batter, meanwhile, has scored 5,334 runs across 104 List A games at an average of 58.61.
