Former India captain Sourav Ganguly met with an accident while travelling to Burdwan for an event. The incident happened at Dantanpur on the Durgapur Expressway, where a lorry suddenly overtook Ganguly's convoy, forcing the driver to apply the brakes abruptly. This led to a chain reaction, causing the cars behind Ganguly’s vehicle to collide with each other, one of them hitting Ganguly’s car.
Fortunately, everyone was safe. However, two cars in Ganguly’s convoy suffered minor damage. The former BCCI president was forced to wait on the road for about 10 minutes before proceeding to Burdwan University, where he attended a scheduled function.
Despite the accident, Ganguly hadn't cancelled his plan and went to Burdwan. He interacted with students and dignitaries at the event, discussing Indian cricket’s future and sharing anecdotes from his illustrious career.
Happy that you invited me
“I am overwhelmed. It feels great to be in Burdwan. I am even more happy that you invited me. BDS (Burdwan Sports Association) was asking me to come for a long time. It feels great to be here today. CAB has been working with the Burdwan sports organization for 50 years. Many players have emerged from the district. We will have to recruit players from the district in the same way in the future as well.” Ganguly said in an event.
