Alyssa is yet to be ruled out of ODI series against India.

Australia women's team captain Alyssa Healy has been ruled out of the remainder of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024 and doubtful for the home ODI series against India due to a knee injury.

The 34-year-old did not keep for Sydney Sixers in the ongoing WBBL 2024. Earlier, she injured her foot during T20 World Cup 2024 in UAE. Alyssa will be further reassessed in two weeks' time. An official call on her availability for the ODI series at home will be taken before announcing the squad.

Alyssa had already said her foot injury will need to be managed.

"There are higher powers sitting above that are quite vocal in what can and can't happen, which I completely understand," the wicketkeeper-batter said earlier this month.  "Being skipper as well is a fairly big role for me. I want to be available for as much of the summer as I can.

"I've hardly played a game for the Sixers for the past two seasons, and it's a place I really enjoy playing cricket.  I want to be available for every game that I possibly can, but the reality is that might not be the case.

"It's going to be managing the pain, function and what I can and can't do [all summer]. How I pull up from games is going to be really important as well."

Healy's record against India

If Healy does not recover in time, all-rounder Tahlia McGrath is likely to lead Australia in the ODI series for the rest of the year. Alyssa's absence will be a big jolt for Australia. She has scored 544 runs from 15 innings at an average of 41.84 including a century and three half-centuries.
