The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the updated schedule for the upcoming edition of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 which will be hosted by Sri Lanka in July, a few months ahead of the ICC women's T20 World Cup 2024. The sub-continent tournament will kick off with defending champions India taking on their arch-rivals Pakistan in Dambulla, on July 19.  Unlike the previous edition, this time eight teams will participate in the Women's Asia Cup 2024.

The teams have been divided into two groups. Group A includes India, Pakistan, UAE, and Nepal. Group B has Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand. The high-voltage India and Pakistan match which was earlier scheduled to be played on July 21 has now been preponed for July 19. The top two teams from each group will play in the semifinal clashes on July 26 and July 27. The final will be played on July 29.

India's dominance in Asia Cup

India have been the most successful team in the history of the Asia Cup. They are seven-time champions of the tournament. In 2018, Bangladesh managed to end India's winning streak in Malaysia with a thrilling win off the last ball of the final. In the previous edition, India restored their dominance with an easy eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Bangladesh.
