India and Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) star bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar got hitched to his fiancé Jaya Bhardwaj in a private ceremony in Agra on Wednesday, June 1. The CSK medium-pacer shared a photo of his wedding ceremony on his official Instagram account in which he could be seen putting the garland around Jaya’s neck. The post was accompanied by a beautiful social media message.
"When I met you the first time, I felt that you are the one and I was right. We have enjoyed every moment of our life together and I promise you to keep you always happy like this. One of the best moments of my life. Everyone pls give your blessings to us," Deepak wrote on his official social media handle.
Chahar had proposed to his girlfriend in the stands during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season during CSK's match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The video of the incident was shared on Chahar’s Instagram account. He went to the stands where his girlfriend was seated and proposed to her in public.
The Chennai-based franchise bought Chahar for Rs 14 crore during the IPL mega auction in 2022 but the medium-pacer missed all of the defending champions' matches due to a back injury. The 29-year-old Deepak Chahar has so far taken 59 wickets at an average of 29.19 in 63 matches. His breakthrough year came in 2019 when he finished with 22 wickets in 17 matches. In 2021, when CSK stormed to their 4th title, Chahar had managed to take only 14 wickets in 15 matches.
Chahar has also been a regular for India at the international level, making significant contributions with the bat as well — most recently, he hit 54 against South Africa in an ODI before following it up with 38 against the West Indies.
