Amidst increasing reports about India pacer Jasprit Bumrah's comeback to the national team after prolonged hiatus due to injury, the right-arm pacer on July 18 (Tuesday) shared a video on his Instagram account. The video consisted of pictures in which Bumrah can be seen training and bowling in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The Indian
pacer added the famous song "I'm coming home" by Diddy to his video.
Bumrah, who underwent back surgery earlier in the year, is believed to be recovering well and has been bowling regularly a few overs in the NCA nets. Bumrah hasn't complained of any significant pain during his rehab process. According to an earlier report in The Indian Express, the veteran pacer is bowling 8-10 over in the net on a regular basis under the watchful eyes of NCA chief VVS Laxman.
Bumrah might be part of the Men in Blue's squad for the Ireland tour which is scheduled to be staged in August. India is likely to send a second-string side to Ireland and Bumrah can make a comeback in that series.
Pestered by the recurring back injury, Bumrah has been sidelined which has cost India big time in the mega events including the recent WTC final which they lost by 209 runs. Bumrah's absence has hurt India not just in the WTC final but also in last year's Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. Thus, the BCCI doesn't want to take any more chances with Bumrah as they want the senior pacer to be available for selection in India's World Cup squad.
Apart from Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer has also started working on his craft in the NCA nets. The right-handed batter underwent back surgery earlier in the year after recurring injuries and he too, is in the NCA currently. His return is expected to be sooner rather than later as the Mumbaikar has started amping up his rehab process.
