Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) Himmat Singh, the skipper of New Delhi Tigers unintentionally pulled off a run out while kicking the ball in frustration. On the last ball of the run chase in a rain-curtailed game, Outer Delhi Warriors needed one run to win. The new batter Pratham Saluja pushed for a single. Himmat charged at the ball but fumbled. Dejected, he kicked the ball in frustration but ended up hitting the stumps. The New Delhi Tigers celebrated as Himmat had forced a super over with his kick, similar to how a players scores the equaliser in the ending stages of the game.
New Delhi Tigers bowlers celebrated in a wild manner as they had witnessed a rare event. The video of the dismissal has gone viral on social media.
However, their celebrations were short-lived. Monu Shukla, who had scored 45 runs from 17 balls, came out to bat in the super over after a wicket fell. He hit Rishabh Sharma dismissed Yajas Sharma but conceded three sixes and a couple of runs. Chasing 21 runs, Himmat hit Shivam Sharma for a six first ball. But, Shivam responded with wickets of Himmat and Hrithik Shokeen off consecutive balls as Outer Delhi Warriors won the game at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
Himmat’s fiery fifty takes Tigers past 150
Earlier, New Delhi Tigers posted 156/5 on the board. Opener Lakshya Thareja scored an unbeaten 41-ball 62. Skipper Himmat smashed five sixes and four fours in his fiery 25-ball 61. Outer Delhi Warriors were given a revised target of 156.
Shukla, Yajas score fifty, Shivam’s cameo before super over
Outer Delhi Warriors lost their star opener Priyansh Arya for a single-digit score to Pradhyman Sanan. Manish Sehrawat caused a collapse amid Yajas' fiery fifty. The opener scored 52 runs from 25 balls, featuring four sies and five fours. Warriors lost 80/5 in 8.5 overs. But, Shukla revived the run chase with a 17-ball 45. He took Laxman to the cleaners. Shokeen staged a comeback with Shukla's wicket but Shivam's nine-ball 21 cameo led to only one run needed off the last two balls. Then Warriors' Siddhant Sharma and Saluja were run out, leading to a super over.
