The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made a significant move by bringing on board former India cricketer and ex-selection committee chairman, MSK Prasad, as their strategic consultant on August 17 (Thursday). Prasad is anticipated to bring a wealth of cricketing experience and expertise to the franchise's arsenal, a team that has only participated in the cash-rich tournament for two years.

"Prasad brings with him a wealth of experience and a stellar track record in cricket operations, coupled with a passion that has driven him to remarkable achievements in both national and international arenas," LSG said in a statement.

"His journey is marked by a range of accomplishments that spans from representing the Indian national team to steering the operations of prominent cricket associations; all of which will bring valuable insights and experience to our organisation," the statement further added.

Prasad served as the chairman of the BCCI's senior selection committee between September 2016 and March 2020. The 48-year-old former India wicketkeeper-batter donned the Indian jersey in six Test matches and 17 ODIs, accumulating 106 and 131 runs in the respective formats.

Morne Morkel to continue as bowling coach

Earlier, LSG had announced that former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel will continue to serve as the franchise's bowling coach in IPL 2024. Morkel played international cricket for 12 years and accounted for 309 wickets in Tests, 188 wickets in ODIs and 47 wickets in T20Is.

Justin Langer appointed head coach

Former Australian opener and head coach, Justin Langer will be LSG's coach for next season's IPL. The Aussie great will succeed former Zimbabwe batter Andy Flower, the franchise had revealed earlier. During his time as a batter for Australia, Langer formed a formidable opening partnership with Matthew Hayden in Test cricket. Talking about Langer's record, the left-handed batter scored 7,696 runs in 105 Tests at an average of 45.27. He also registered 23 centuries and 30 fifties.
