Yuvraj Singh named his favourite moemnt from Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy

Yuvraj lauded Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar for their batting efforts in Manchester Test

Legendary India cricketer Yuvraj Singh has named his favourite moment from the recently-concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. According to him, the moment when the visitors managed to draw the fourth Test at Old Trafford thanks to stunning batting displays from both Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar is something that he hasn't seen in a very long time.

After getting restricted to 0/2 at one stage while trailing England by 311 runs in their second innings, an inning defeat looked to be on the cards for India, however centuries from Shubman Gill, Jadeja and Sundar massively helped the side in salvaging a draw. The duo of Jadeja and Sundar formed a magnificent unbeaten stand of 203 runs as the Men in Blue wrapped up Day 5 on 425/4. This draw denied the Three Lions from sealing the series before even playing the fifth and final match.

“The moment in the tournament was when India drew the Test series. I’ve never seen, in a very long time, Washington and Jadeja got hundreds and drew a Test," Yuvraj said while speaking to ICC Digital.

“That speaks volumes. Jadeja has been there for a long time. But I think Washington Sundar, as a youngster coming into the team, I think it was incredible to do what he did. I think it’s just fantastic because I felt when you have a young team going to England, it’s a lot of pressure," he added.

The draw in Manchester was quite valuable for Team India

The series would eventually end at 2-2 with India recording a thrilling 6-run victory in the fifth Test held at Kennington Oval. This made the draw at Old Trafford even more valuable as without it, the visitors wouldn't have been able to level up the series. This performance from the young Indian team certainly silenced a lot of their doubters who had written them off even before the beginning of the assignment just because they had named a young and a little inexperienced squad.

Meanwhile, the victory in the fifth Test saw India move up to the third place on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, pipping England down to fourth. Shubman Gill & Co. will be looking to make more gains on the standings with their upcoming two-match Test assignment against West Indies which is set to commence from October 2.
