Highlights:

Yuvraj Singh made his India debut under Sourav Ganguly's captaincy.

Yuvraj Singh was the part of MS Dhoni-led ODI World Cup 2011 winning team.

India's legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh opened up on MS Dhoni and Sourav Ganguly's style of captaincy. Yuvraj who made his India debut under Ganguly's captaincy reckoned that he gave a lot of confidence to young players likes of Harbhajan Singh, and Zaheer Khan. He also reckoned that Ganguly gave a lot of chances to players who were not consistent.

When asked about the Indian captains he played under, find gelled most to his style or he was able to perform his best. Yuvraj said that MS Dhoni was a good captain because he always had a plan B for the team.

"Yeah, we had a couple of guys but mostly it was Saurav and MS for a while. I think I got on the side when Saurav was the captain and he kind of like gave us a lot of confidence in terms of and a lot of chances because we were younger, we were not consistent. Like myself, Sehwag and a couple of other young guys, Bhajji and Zaheer Khan. So he kind of stuck to us for a bit because he knew that these guys could be matched when he's in the future. And then obviously the team went to Rahul for a bit and then to Dhoni" said Yuvraj on Club Prairie Fire YT.

He further said that when Dhoni was leading the team they had a very good coach who convinced them that India would win the World Cup. He also highlighted that Ganguly's approach was more aggressive.

“So I think when the team went to Dhoni, we had a really good coach, Gary Kirsten, who made us believe that we can actually win the World Cup be the number one test side. So it was, and obviously, Dhoni was a good captain as well. Saurav was more of being aggressive and trying to take teams head-on. And what I liked about Dhoni was that MS had already had a plan B. Like if plan A doesn't work, go to plan B” added Yuvraj.

Dhoni has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. He was arguably the best captain India have ever produced as Men in Blue won all the ICC trophies of that time under his tenure. Dhoni was last featured in Indian Premier League (IPL ) 2024 where he was featured for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a wicketkeeper batter under Ruturaj Gaikwad's captaincy.  On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from all forms of cricket a long time back.
