When asked whether he would open the session with a six, India skipper Rohit Sharma passed a hilarious remark as he made his way back to the nets. After leading India to victory against Bangladesh in the recent Test series, Rohit is back in the heart of things for the Tests against New Zealand. Before the New Zealand series began, the opener would take a brief break.
In a video posted to his official Instagram account, Rohit was seen entering the nets prepared when a person asked him to begin the practice with a six. Rohit would respond with his usual witty style.
"Pagal hogaya kya? (Are you mad or what?), said Rohit.
In the Kanpur Test, Rohit had, incidentally, opened the opening innings for India with two consecutive sixes. The skipper of India then went on to demonstrate his readiness for the forthcoming series with a few lovely strokes during the net session.
Rohit Sharma to miss one BGT Test
It is anticipated that Rohit Sharma will miss Australia's first Test in the 2024–25 Border–Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian captain is said to have told senior authorities including the head selector of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he might miss the first Test match, which is set to start at Perth Stadium on November 22, because of a personal issue. The BCCI has not received an official confirmation from Rohit despite his indications that he would pull out of the match if the situation continues.
In seven Test matches played in Australia, Rohit has amassed 408 runs at an average of 31.38, three half-centuries, and a top score of 63 not out. October 16 at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium will mark the start of the first Test match between India and New Zealand.
