Pakistan Cricket Board announces schedule for West Indies 2 Test match series, PCB to host WIndies for first Test tour of Pakistan in 19 years

Pakistan vs West Indies two Test match series will take place at Multan Cricket Stadium.

West Indies will tour Pakistan for Test series after 19 years.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the schedule for two Test matches against West Indies scheduled to take place next year in Pakistan. This will be the West Indies’ first Test tour of Pakistan in 19 years when they played three Tests in November 2006, while their last Test away Test series against Pakistan was in the UAE in October 2016. However, for white-ball cricket West Indies have toured thrice in Pakistan since April 2018 - once for the ODI series (June 2022) and twice for the T20I series (April 2018 and December 2021).

The West Indies cricket team will arrive in Islamabad on 6 January and they will face Pakistan Shaheens for a three-day match from January 10-12 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. After that Shan Masood-led senior Pakistan team will face West Indies for two Test for the two ICC World Test Championship matches.

Notably, Both West Indies and Pakistan are currently on seventh and ninth respectively in the points table tally. Both teams are out of the World Test Championship (WTC) final which will take place next year in England.

West Indies vs Pakistan both Test matches will take place at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan where the first Test match will be played from 17 to 21 January and the second Test match will take place from 25 to 29 January. 

Tour schedule:

10-12 January – three-day match vs Pakistan Shaheens, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

17-21 January – first Test, Multan Cricket Stadium

25-29 January – second Test, Multan Cricket Stadium

Playing hours (Tests)

First session – 0930-1200

Second session – 1240-1440 (1300-1500, only Fridays)

Third session – 1500-1630 (1520-1650, only Fridays)

Pakistan and West Indies' performance in the current WTC cycle

Pakistan have played 10 Test matches so far in the current WTC cycle where they managed to win just four and lost six. Pakistan's last Test outing was against England where they defeated the Three Lions 2-1 in three Test match series. 

On the other hand, West Indies who are on ninth in the points table tally have played 11 Test matches in the ongoing WTC cycle. They managed to win just two clashes and two matches ended as draw. The Carribean side have lost seven matches.  They recently faced Bangladesh for two Test match series where they took a lead by winning the first Test but the hosts failed to continue the momentum Bangladesh won the second Test as they both together lifted the series trophy which was shared 1-1.
