Former Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma has thanked Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor Gautam Gambhir for helping in the treatment of his mother-in-law’s surgery that helped her recover from brain hemorrhage.

“Last month was very difficult, my mother in law had brain hemorrhage, she was in critical condition. Thank you Gautam Gambhir paji & (his PA Gaurav Arora) who helped me in such difficult time and he provided the best neurologist and hospital in a short time. Surgery has been done successfully. Now she is absolutely fine & thanks to Gangaram hospital & their staff for excellent care. Special thanks to Dr Manish Chugh your compassionate treatment is miraculous,” Rahul wrote in a tweet.

Rahul also shared photographs of his mother and wife while thanking Gambhir.

Last year, Sharma played in Legends League Cricket 2022. The leg-spinner took a four-fer in a losing cause for Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings against Gautam Gambhir’s India Capitals in LLC 2022 final.

Sharma made his ODI debut in 2011 against West Indies where he picked up three wickets in a winning cause. The 36-year-old has played four ODIs and two T20Is. He has a total of nine wickets in international cricket. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in August 2022 before taking part in LLC.

In the absence on an injured KL Rahul, LSG are currently ranked third on Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 points table with 11 points from 11 games. In the previous encounter, the Krunal Pandya-led side lost to defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) by 56 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Gambhir was recently involved in an ugly verbal spat with Royal Challengers Bangalore’ (RCB) Virat Kohli. Following the unfortunate incident, Gambhir was fined 100 per cent of his match fee by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for committing Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct.
