From actor Ranveer Singh to players like Kapil Dev, Syed Kirmani and Madan Lal, all were seen getting emotional during the event while recalling the great moments from the 1983 World Cup and the days of shooting as well.

Ranveer Singh starrer- ‘83’ will release on December 24 and the lead actor playing the role of 1983’s World Cup winning squad’s skipper Kapil Dev was seen in tears during the event.

"For all of us just to be a part of that process has been the most incredible thing. Like Kabir (Khan) said, just being in this room today, I don't have words,” said Ranveer in a special program with India Today in Mumbai.

Kapil Dev and another key part of the squad Madan Lal were also seen in tears.

“We were actually enjoying our matches in the World Cup as much as we could. After some point it seemed that I am not the captain. After few matches the team took over. You will never lose if the self-belief of your team gets increased.

“Kiri (Syed Kirmani), Madan (madan Lal), Sunny (Sunil Gavaskar), Amarnath (Mohinder Amarnath) were there with me, they were my seniors and heroes as well. Playing along with your heroes is really amazing and when you become their captain you do not understand whether you can speak or not. I might have said many wrong things at times but it gives joy to spend time with your heroes,” recalled World Cup winning skipper Kapil.

Madan Lal, on the other hand talked about the similarities between Kapil Dev and actor Ranveer Singh who played the role of the skipper of the World Cup winning squad.

“You had a captain who had lot of energy in acting and in the same way we had a captain who plenty of energy too on the field. It is such an emotional movie.”
