The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on January 04 (Wednesday) confirmed that star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be airlifted from Dehradun to Mumbai. Earlier in the day, Sports Tak had reported that Pant will be shifted to Mumbai to receive the best possible treatment for the ligament injury he sustained during the horrific car crash on December 30, 2022.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India have made all the necessary arrangements to shift India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to Mumbai. Rishabh, who is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at Max Hospital, Dehradun following a car accident on 30th December, will be brought to Mumbai in an air ambulance," BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah said in a release.
"He will be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute and will be under the direct supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, Head - the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director - Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the hospital. Rishabh will undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for ligament tears and will continue to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team throughout his recovery and rehabilitation.
"The Board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and will provide him with all the support he needs during this period," the release added.
Pant was involved in a devastating accident when his car hit a divider while he was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee. According to the first medical statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant sustained several injuries in the accident.
"Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment," BCCI had said in a release on December 30,2022.
