It has been five and a half months since Rishabh Pant survived a horrific car accident on December 30, 2022 morning. After going several surgeries, Pant’s recovery has been slow but promising. From walking with the help of crutches to having trouble walking up the stairs to now finding it relatively easy to do basic things, Pant has come a long way. On June 14, Pant shared a ‘before and after’ video of him walking up the stairs one step a time to now doing it normally.

In the first part of the video, Arshdeep took his time after every step. The trainer also walked behind him to ensure there is no problem. By the time, he got to the first floor, the pain was visible on his face. In the second part, Pant did not need any help and had a smile on his face.

“Not bad yaar Rishabh. Simple things can be difficult sometimes,” he wrote in the caption.

In addition, Pant also posted a video on his Instagram story. He can be doing lunges with a stick in his right hand for support.

Pant's absence hurts India, Delhi Capitals

India’s explosive wicketkeeper-batter’s services were missed in the recently concluded World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia at Kennington Oval, London. His replacement, Srikar Bharat was exceptional behind the stumps as he took a few acrobatic catches. However, he was unimpressive with the bat whereas Pant has had a good record against Australia, especially in run chases. As a result, India lost the WTC 2023 final by a big margin of 209 runs on a pitch that did not offer too much for the bowlers barring some extra bounce.

Pant’s absence was felt in the Delhi Capitals (DC) camp as well. Head Coach Ricky Ponting, Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly talked about his impact on several occasions. In his absence, David Warner led the team which finished ninth on the points table after a horrible start to the season.

Pant's comeback

After the surgery, it was said that Pant is likely to miss most of action this year. He has been ruled out of ODI World Cup 2023 in India later this year already. His recovery may take even longer than expected.
