Following their impressive 2-0 series sweep over Bangladesh at home, the Indian Test team is currently taking some much-needed time off. Indian cricket team's captain Rohit Sharma is still getting his bearings; he was spotted with Mumbai's bright prospect, Musheer Khan. The Indian skipper was pictured alongside Musheer and his father Naushad Khan. The image was then shared via Stories by Sarfaraz Khan's official Instagram account.
Musheer suffered fracture in car accident
Musheer has become a prominent name in Mumbai's domestic cricket. The young player and his father were involved in a car accident on their way to Lucknow for the Irani Cup 2024 match, which resulted in a fracture. The 19-year-old has been performing quite well, as evidenced by his outstanding performance in the just-finished Duleep Trophy 2024. Musheer while playing for the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India B team, went on to score an incredible 181 versus India A. He also receives a lot of praise for his performance for Mumbai and also excelled in India's most recent U19 World Cup campaign.
The young player's injury has prevented him from being included in Mumbai's 16-man roster for the first two stages of India's top domestic competition, the Ranji Trophy, in 2024–25. The reigning champions Mumbai have been grouped with teams from Baroda, Tripura, Jammu & Kashmir, Services, Odisha, Meghalaya, and Maharashtra in Elite Group A. At the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, the champions will play Baroda on the road to start their Ranji Trophy campaign on Friday. On October 18, there would be a home match at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy against Maharashtra.
Even though Musheer's injuries are not life-threatening, Mumbai is hoping that their young player may recuperate quickly and return to his peak form as soon as possible. On the other side, Rohit is excited for India's next Test series, which is scheduled to start on October 16, against New Zealand. The three-game series will be very important since both teams want to win as many games as they can to guarantee a berth in the 2025–2026 World Test Championship (WTC)
