Veteran Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has added another remarkable achievement to his illustrious T20 career. The right-handed batter has surpassed the 1,000-four mark in T20 cricket, becoming the only Pakistani cricketer to achieve this mega milestone.
Malik reached this milestone during the ongoing National T20 Cup at the National Bank Cricket Academy in Karachi. In a swashbuckling innings of 84 runs from just 56 balls, Malik smashed six fours and four maximums, etching his name in the annals of T20 history.
By reaching this milestone in 482 innings, Malik joined an elite group of eight players worldwide to have achieved this feat.
Malik's remarkable journey in T20 cricket continued as he also surpassed the 400-six mark, becoming the first Pakistani cricketer to do so.
With this achievement, Malik stands as the second cricketer after Chris Gayle to have accumulated over 12,000 runs in T20 cricket, a testament to his longevity and impact in the shortest format of the game.
Shoaib Malik's 80th T20 fifty
Talking about the match, Sialkot batted first and scored 163/2. After losing two wickets for 10 runs, Malik and Mohammad Rizwan put on a centurion partnership to take team's total to 163. Rizwan remained unbeaten on 72 off 52 balls, while Shoaib Malik scored his 80th T20 fifty.
Rawalpindi have the last laugh
Chasing 164, Rawalpindi reached the target in 18.4 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Rawalpindi won the match by three wickets. Yasir Khan's 87-run knock proved too much for Shoaib Malik's team while Yasir remained unbeaten on 87 off 52 balls.
