Cricket South Africa has announced two big additions to their squad for the tri-series against Pakistan and New Zealand which will take place days before the much-awaited edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They were recently hit with the massive blow of star pacer Gerald Coetzee ruling out of the series and the mega tournament which will be taking place in Pakistan and UAE. CSA have added Tabraiz Shamsi and Lungi Ngidi to the squad.
CSA announce two additions
"Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi have been added to the squad for South Africa’s first match of the tri-nation ODI series against New Zealand on 10 February," stated CSA in their announcement.
Before the Champions Trophy, South Africa will play a tri-nation series featuring Pakistan and New Zealand from February 8. South Africa has already announced their 12-member squad for their first game of the tri-series against New Zealand which will take place on February 10.
In preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy, the Proteas have travelled to Pakistan to play against both Pakistan and New Zealand. The tournament's final is scheduled for February 14 and South Africa will play one match each against the hosts and New Zealand. Prior to the ICC event, which begins on February 19, the tri-series is anticipated to provide all sides with much-needed match practice.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to start on February 19 and South Africa will start its campaign against Afghanistan on February 21 at National Stadium in Karachi.
