Champions Trophy 2025 will be hosted by Pakistan.

Both India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series for more than a decade.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt questions the International Cricket Council's (ICC) authority on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Butt said this in the context of Champions Trophy 2025 which will be hosted by Pakistan next year.

There have been a lot of discussions on whether Team India travel to Pakistan for the marquee event. The two countries have not played a bilateral series for more than a decade due to political tensions but the Pakistan cricket team travelled to India in 2023 for the ODI World Cup. However, the India cricket board hasn't said anything about the team's participation in the Champions Trophy.

"We try sensationalizing everything. There have been a few reports suggesting that Jay Shah has given a positive signal. However, I don't think he's given any signals. I wouldn't have been excited even if there had been a signal from him because it is the ICC's duty to ensure that all teams visit Pakistan," Salman Butt said on his YouTube channel.

Butt said that if India denies to come to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy then ICC will have to deal with that and this will show how much authority they have as a regulator.

"If they come, then they welcome, if they don't, the ICC has to deal with it. We will find out if they can just deal with all the other countries or can do the same with India as well. It will show how much authority they have as a regulator and how neutral they can be," he added.

Both India and Pakistan last faced each other in the T20 World Cup 2024 which was played at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in United States where Men in Blue defeated Babar Azam-led side by six runs.

India and Pakistan will now next face each other in the Champions Trophy if India featured in the marquee event.
