In a dramatic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 final, it was David Miller’s catch that sealed India’s win. Suryakumar Yadav’s spectacular catch on the boundary ended Miller’s stay at the crease. As South Africa lost the chance to lift their maiden World Cup trophy, Miller was devastated. He cried inconsolably as Indian players celebrated their victory. His wife Camilla Harris tried to console him as players walked out for presentation ceremony. Two days after the defeat, Miller took to Instagram to share his disappointment on letting the trophy slip out of the grasp.

"I am gutted!! Really tough pill to swallow after what transpired 2 days ago. Words don't explain how I am feeling. One thing I do know is how proud I am of this unit. This journey was an incredible one, with highs and lows throughout the entire month. We have endured pain, but I know this team has the resilience and will keep raising the bar," Miller wrote in a story on his Instagram.

Miller’s contribution in unsuccessful run chase

Miller contributed with a 17-ball 21. He shared a crucial 45-run partnership for the fifth-wicket with Heinrich Klaasen who scored a half-century. South Africa needed 30 runs in last five overs with six wickets in hand but Klaasen lost his wicket to Hardik Pandya. After Klaasen’s wicket, the Proteas choked again and fell short of the target by nine runs.
