BCCI made changes to their policy after the Border-Gavaskar series defeat on Australia tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) has remained firm on its decision to not allow players' families to stay with them during the T20 World Cup 2026. BCCI only allows players to travel with their families on a tour for a maximum of 14 days. It is applicable for a long away tour of 45 days or more.

As per a report by the Indian Express, the BCCI has said that players can make separate arrangements for their families if they intend to. The board won't make any arrangements considering India are hosts and the only time they will travel to Sri Lanka is to face Pakistan.

“The Indian team management had approached the BCCI to ask whether wives and fiancées can travel with the team and whether they can also stay with them. The board has made it clear that families won’t be staying with the players. They can make separate arrangements, though, if they want to,” a BCCI source confirmed to the English daily.
