Rinku Singh likely to miss India vs Zimbabwe T20 World Cup 2026 clash.

India’s destructive batter Rinku Singh has left the national camp and returned home due to a family emergency. Sports Tak understands that Rinku Singh's father, Khanchand Singh, who is suffering from liver cancer, 4th stage, has been admitted to a hospital is in critical condition and has been admitted to a hospital in Greater Noida. 

Rinku had travelled with the team to Chennai on Monday, February 23, the day after India’s Super 8 match. However, early on Tuesday morning, he left the city to be with his father, who is on life support.

As a result, Rinku will lilkely to miss India’s upcoming T20 World Cup Super 8 match against Zimbabwe on February 26. He was also unable to attend the team’s practice session on Tuesday evening due to the situation.

Rinku Singh's performance in T20 World Cup 2026

Rinku has featured for India in all their T20 World Cup 2026 matches, where he scored 24 runs in all. He is a vital cog in the team in the role of a finisher, coming in the death overs, and his absence will be a setback for the hosts as it impacts the balance in the team. Rinku is also a good fielder.

India vs Zimbabwe T20 World Cup 2026 runs

Team India will next take on a tricky Zimbabwe side, who impressed in the group stage by defeating former champions Australia and Sri Lanka to make it to the Super 8s. Led by Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe lost their first Super 8 match against the West Indies and will be eager to bounce back in their next game.

If Rinku is unavailable, India could bring in Axar Patel to fill the gap. The Indian vice-captain didn’t feature in the last clash against South Africa.

The loss to South Africa ended India’s 12-match unbeaten streak in this T20 World Cup and also hurt their Net Run Rate, making their path to the semi-finals much tougher. At this stage, India will need big wins in both of their remaining matches to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
