India captain Suryakumar Yadav creates a forgettable record during the ICC T20 World Cup final against New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The stylish batter was dismissed for a golden duck, and with that, he became the first skipper to be out without scoring in a T20 World Cup final.
How did New Zealand shift the momentum?
India got off to a strong start in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, thanks to impressive batting from the top order. Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan all scored half-centuries, putting the team in a commanding position early in the match.

However, the momentum shifted briefly in the 17th over when James Neesham struck with three important wickets. The New Zealand all-rounder first dismissed Samson, who had played a brilliant knock of 89, and then removed Ishan Kishan for 54. On the final ball of the same over, he also got rid of India captain Suryakumar Yadav.
With that dismissal, Suryakumar registered an unwanted record. His score became the lowest by a captain batting in a T20 World Cup final, going past the previous record held by Daren Sammy, who had scored 2 off 2 balls against the England cricket team in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
