India opener Abhishek Sharma is going through a rough patch in the T20 World Cup 2026. The 25-year-old is yet to open his account in the tournament after getting out for his third straight duck in India’s final group-stage match against the Netherlands at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Known for his aggressive batting at the top, Abhishek had played a crucial role for India in their Asia Cup 2025 triumph. However, things haven’t gone his way in this World Cup. With three ducks in a row, he has now entered an unwanted record list for India in the T20 World Cups.
Abhishek now has the joint-most ducks for India in the tournament’s history, equalling former pacer Ashish Nehra. In the process, he has also gone past Virat Kohli, who has two ducks in T20 World Cups.

Coming back to the match, India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bat against the Netherlands. India made two changes, resting vice-captain Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav and bringing in Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh. The Men in Blue have already sealed their spot for the Super 8 of the marquee event. The Netherlands made one change to their side, bringing in Noah Croes for Fred Klaassen.
